BOOK THIS PACKAGE
Approximate Duration: 4 hours Rhodes Old Town First-time visitors to Rhodes are sure to enjoy this overview of essential sites. Drive along the west coast of the island before taking a winding road inland to the plateau of Filerimos, nearly 1,000 feet above sea level. Here stands the Church of Our Lady, built upon the foundations of the ancient Temple of Athena and the catacombs of early Christian times. The church was restored by the Knights of St. John and used as stables by the Turks before being rebuilt a little over 30 years ago. The restored monastery is still occupied, and the barrel-vaulted Chapel of St. George has some noteworthy 15th century frescoes. Back in Rhodes, your walking tour of the old walled town begins. Lining its stone-paved lanes are grand Medieval structures, each recalling the Knights of St. John and their Turkish conquerors. Your guide recounts the town's fascinating past as you walk along the Knights Road, one of the town's oldest and most magnificent thoroughfares. Built along the route of an ancient street dating back to 408 B.C., the road leads to the Palace of the Grand Masters, a fortress deliberately built to dominate the town and the harbors. Construction began on the palace at the beginning of the 14th century and, although destroyed in 1856, was rebuilt in 1939. The floors are covered with ancient mosaics from the island of Kos while an impressive marble staircase leads to the upper floor. From this level you'll have panoramic views over the city of Rhodes. Adding to the vitality of the old town, there are many inviting shops, giving a modern touch to the Medieval picture. Your tour concludes back at the pier.

Trip of a Lifetime

Anthony worked very closely with us to design a custom tour that was best suited to our particular needs and wants for our trip. His knowledge and expertise helped steer us to the best sites and experiences which was invaluable to exceeding our highest expectations. The selection of first class hotels, the pick up arrangements which were performed like clockwork, the knowledgeble and courteous guides all contributed to our total enjoyment.
Further we were kept informed by the guides of any advance arrangements all during the trip which as a retired business executive who values good communication greatly added to our pleasure and relaxation.
With respect to hotels, which were all great, the hotel in Santorini high up on the hillside with spectacular views of the harbor and sites was so breathtaking we were all blown away by it's unique character and beauty.
We would heartily recommend Antelope Travel, and in particular Anthony Alagiah, especially for their travels to Greece and also Turkey. It was a trip of a lifetime.

Amazing Travel Agency

Anthony and his team did an amazing job organizing our eight day trip to Mykonos and Santorini. They chose two excellent hotels that met our budget, and booked car transport and inter-island ferries for us. He also gave a bunch of great restaurant recommendations and was able to help us book a few last-minute items, including a wine tour! He also had local representatives on each island who we were able to call with random specific asks (e.g., last minute club reservations on Mykonos).

The only thing we'd change is that we wish we had been able to spend even MORE time in Greece! In fact, we're already hoping to take another trip next year, and if we do we'll definitely be using Anthony and team again!

Having worked with other travel agents in other regions who do not do nearly as good a job, we can honestly say we are really happy with our Antelope experience!
