Approximate Duration: 5 - 6 hours Pyrgos, Santorini After your tender drops you off at the port of Athinios, you'll drive to Pyrgos village, one of the oldest settlements and the highest village on the island. Admire the beautiful old houses and the Venetian fortress, crowned by several churches. From Pyrgos Square the road runs uphill to the Monastery of the Prophet Elijah, the highest point of the island. From where, the views out over the caldera are majestic. Leaving Pyrgos you head to the northern end of Santorini to the village of Oia, which offers magnificent views of the caldera and the rest of the other islands. With its cobblestone streets, beautiful old mansions and houses perched on the cliffside, you'll realize why the traditional Cycladic architecture is so well known. Here you'll have free time to stroll around the narrow streets with the old beautiful houses and the tiny picturesque shops. Then, leave the village of Oia and make your way to a local winery for a tour of the wine chambers and distilleries.. A buffet-style lunch will be served at the winery and during your meal you'll have the opportunity to enjoy and experience a typical Greek fiesta dancing to 'Zorba the Greek' and breaking plates while the bouzouki plays its solo. After lunch, you'll continue through the beautiful countryside to Fira town, the picturesque capital of the island built on the rim of the caldera wall. Enjoy the town at leisure before returning to your ship.

Anthony was a fabulous tour planner for our family, multi-generational trip. He put the itinerary, tours, transportation and hotels together seamlessly and everything was wonderful. He really listens and can modify things to suit your particular needs. Took all the stress off the trip.

Planning excellence

My kids (18 & 20) and I had the most amazing 2-week trip to Greece May/June 2023. We were fortunate to have been introduced to Anthony Alagiah, who came highly recommended through a friend and colleague. I’m a researcher by nature, love planning trips and like to make very purposeful choices. What I lacked was local, expert perspective, and felt I wasn’t getting thorough, objective advice from my usual online sources. Anthony has a network of colleagues with Antelope Travel and affiliated agencies throughout Greece who gave timely advice and knew what hotels and excursion providers could be relied on for consistent, quality experiences. Our vacation was impeccably planned from the moment we arrived. The communications were excellent not only during planning but while we were in Greece. We had a clear itinerary, with details, contact names and numbers for every step of our trip - everything from start to finish ran smoothly and we felt very well cared for. The hotel choices, tours/guides and restaurant recommendations were excellent. Overall, it was the trip of a lifetime, and the planning from start to finish exceeded our expectations.
